“Buy the f***ing dip” or BTFD (verb) - Cheer for crypto loyalists that encourages fellow investors to purchase more crypto when the price plunges.
dApp (noun) - Abbreviation of “decentralized app,” or any application of blockchain and/or cryptocurrency in the form of communication platforms, mobile games, social media sites or more.
Diamond hands (noun) - Slang expression for when someone holds on to an investment in the face of risk and volatility; or an investor who refuses to sell despite the likelihood of losing value.
FUD (noun) - Crypto speak for “fear, uncertainty, doubt,” or bad news that can potentially depreciate the value of an asset.
HODL (verb) - Purposely misspelled internet slang for “hold and do not sell.” Derived from internet lore when an early Bitcoin trader mistakenly wrote “hodl” in a chat forum, meaning “hold” and not sell. Bitcoin enthusiasts have adopted the term when the cryptocurrency falls in value, encouraging each other to show their bitcoin loyalty and hang on to their coins despite volatility.
Rekt (adjective) - Crypto-speak for “wrecked,” or when a trader suffers substantial losses.
“To the moon!” 🚀 (expression) - Popular crypto excitement indicating that the price of a certain cryptocurrency is likely to skyrocket, often denoted with a rocket emoji or moon meme.
